Christmas Wreaths

A couple of parents are making Christmas wreaths to help raise money for the worthy student fund at Anchorage Jr. Academy.
Last Friday they came and worked with grades 5 through 8 to make some Christmas wreaths as part of our Art class. The wreaths are available for $20 each. If you would like a wreath find a student and let them know or just stop by the school, and can even make your request online.

Interesting game to Study Populations.

I was introduced to this game through my college computer science professors. Please play around with it a little to see if it can help you better understand how populations grow and shrink based on limiting factors.

The Game of Life is not your typical computer game. It is a 'cellular automaton', and was invented by Cambridge mathematician John Conway.

This game became widely known when it was mentioned in an article published by Scientific American in 1970. It consists of a collection of cells which, based on a few mathematical rules, can live, die or multiply. Depending on the initial conditions, the cells form various patterns throughout the course of the game.
